The city of Kanyakumari has so much to offer. Padmanabhapuram Palace Kanyakumari has the greatest view to offer. Magnificent wooden palace of sixteenth century surely did take me back in time. This exciting historic place is the hub of historic art and architecture. With antique interiors and rosewood carvings, I saw the rich heritage and diversity of India. Built totally with wood, this magnificent palace draws many tourists every day. This stunning palace is also counted as one of the best ten palaces in world.

It offers me the glimpse of India’s rich cultural heritage and artistic view. When I entered the palace, there was a musical bow in the mahogany, windows covered with mica and royal chairs with carvings. Those painted ceilings and floral design gave added more enriching views to palace. The royal palace of Padmanabhapuram overwhelmed me completely. The next section was Durbar hall that I encountered. Durbar hall of the palace had a shiny black floor, which was especially made for the people who came to visit the king.

The King’s bedroom was the masterpiece. As compared with architecture of designing of woods, it ruled in every field. Mural paintings and paintings of Lord Krishna were the most common in the room. Kanyakumari tourism has kept the place as authentic as possible. The hanging brass lanterns were still present in the room, which lit the palace in eighteenth century. Not only the lanterns but also open air bathing system and granite dance hall created the aroma of the past time. Goddess Saraswati figures and carved figures on columns holding oil lamps made a clear picture of the olden days. Fish carvings on the ceilings and enormous teak beams developed the odour of the golden days.

The spectacular city of Kanyakumari offers to get a good look in the rich history and culture of India. After the tour of Padmanabhapuram Palace Kanyakumari, it was time for me to say farewell to the impressive palace of Tamil Nadu. With the end of this splendid palace it was the beginning of my fresh new tour at Kalakkad Mundanthurai Tiger Reserve.
